Job Centers
Veterans & Reservists wishing to use their benefits:
It is important to understand that those benefits DO NOT go into effect until you have been dispatch as an apprentice for work to On the Job Training (OJT) with the employer. The VA refers to "training" as OJT, NOT
pre-training provided by the Sponsor (ATESTT). Example: The 14 week training for Construction Driver before an apprentice is sent to work. This "training" is not a covered benefit. The terminology for training can often be confusing.

Once an apprentice is dispatched to work (OJT) the benefits are paid based on the OJT hours worked. The Apprenticeship Coordinator reports your monthly hours to the VA on your behalf.
The process for applying for benefits will be explained and conducted in detail during apprenticeship orientation.
